PEACEAnimals Reaches Over 150 Animals in Two Days During Intensive Sterilization Clinics
San Juan and Colonia Volcanes – July 2025
PEACEAnimals has wrapped up two highly productive sterilization clinics over the past two weeks, delivering vital services to under-served communities and highlighting the power of community collaboration in animal welfare.
In San Juan, the team completed over 150 sterilizations in just two days, thanks in part to an innovative and community-focused recovery process. Pet owners remained with their animals during post-operative care, helping monitor vital signs and providing comfort as pets recovered from surgery.
This hands-on involvement not only ensured a safe recovery environment, but also fostered a deeper understanding of the sterilization process among local residents. According to organizers, the approach has proven to be a valuable educational tool, encouraging owners to share information with neighbors and promote responsible pet care in their communities.
“The more people understand the process, the more empowered they are to make informed decisions—not only for their own pets, but for animals in their neighborhoods,” said a PEACEAnimals spokesperson
The following week, PEACEAnimals set up a four-day clinic in Colonia Volcanes, utilizing a local school while it was closed for vacation. The clinic marked a new location for the organization and benefited from clean, well-maintained facilities that improved efficiency and comfort for both animals and staff
Much of the success of the Colonia Volcanes clinic is credited to teacher Alejandra, who took the lead in coordinating logistics, recruiting volunteers, and spreading awareness about the event. Her efforts helped ensure high turnout and smooth operations throughout the week.
PEACEAnimals continues to offer free sterilization clinics throughout the region, aiming to reduce the number of unwanted litters, prevent animal suffering, and support communities with limited access to veterinary care.
